Feist Charitable Foundation and McCarthy Family Donor Advised Fund recently made end of the year grants to the Accelerated Schools.
The Feist donation will be used to upgrade curriculum programs. Students are already benefiting from exercising with the Wii and its sports games. Other curriculum changes will be ongoing throughout the semester.
The McCarthy Family donation will be used to increase the scholarship endownment, as well as fund other administrative needs. Thank you to both families for their support of the Accelerated Schools.
The Gould Charitable Foundation recently provided Accelerated Schools of Overland Park with a grant to expand our technology curriculum. This grant will allow our school to improve our instruction with digital photography, video production, and graphic design. Students will use technology as a tool to reach higher levels of creativity, problem solving, research, organization, and communication.
Upgrading our technology education is essential as we prepare students to be competent in the digital world and modern workplace. To achieve this end we will be purchasing Macintosh computers, digital cameras, and software. Teachers and students will be receiving the latest training at the local Apple Computer store.
Chris Setley, Accelerated Schools instructor, will spearhead this project. "I couldn't be more excited for the opportunity that the Gould Foundation has given us! Our new technology lab will have the potential to change the lives of our students. I can't wait to get them started on some new photo and video projects!" She said.
