COLLEGE & CAREER COORDINATOR

Mindy Bates, ASOP’s College and Career Coordinator, supports and assists juniors and seniors in planning beyond the high school classroom. This happens through:

  • Individual planning sessions

  • Assessment readiness, ACT preparation and Accuplacer practice

  • Assistance in career exploration

  • Referral to Vocational Rehabilitation, if appropriate

  • Coordination of a transition plan for life beyond high school (e.g., employment, college or a trade school)

  • Writing of an Accommodation Plan for college

  • Recommendation of students for the Transition to Post Secondary (TIPS) class at Johnson County Community College for senior students.

“Few of us are doing the careers we first trained for. Plans A, B, and C are what we strive to develop. I, like you, want your students to be successful.”

Mindy also organizes field trips for students to observe college campuses and other career or trade opportunities, helps students find job shadowing opportunities, and assists with resumes, job applications and mock interviews for students seeking employment.
