SCHOOL COUNSELOR

ASOP’s School Counselor, Hollyn Smith, assists in emotional education and support throughout the school on a daily basis. Her responsibilities are many, including overseeing the social, emotional and behavioral climate of the school, managing student behavior, assisting with conflict resolution and anger management, and addressing the needs of students in an age-appropriate manner.

“It is my goal for all students at this school to feel empowered to succeed academically and to learn to advocate on their own for their needs to be met.”

Hollyn also hosts small groups three times a week, in a guidance program called Pathways, where students focus on emotional regulation and social skills that will benefit them in their everyday life.

Pathways allows students to support one another in a safe space so they can process through emotional issues that interfere with their daily life and take time to improve their emotional regulation skills together. Students can take what they learn in Pathways and directly apply it in real life, making Pathways a very useful tool that ASOP provides its students.
