ABOUT OUR COUNSELING CENTER STAFF

Hollyn Smith, Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Play therapist, has been part of Accelerated Schools for the past six years and now serves as Director of Counseling Services. Before stepping into this role, she supported students directly as the mental health counselor, leading groups, building coping skills, and fostering social-emotional growth.

Alongside her work at ASOP, Hollyn owns Empowered Family Therapy in Overland Park, Kansas, where she helps individuals, couples, and families navigate challenges such as trauma, anxiety, relationship concerns, and life transitions. She is dedicated to creating safe, supportive spaces where students and families can strengthen resilience, build meaningful connections, and grow toward both academic success and personal well-being.

Outside of work, Hollyn and her husband are passionate foodies who enjoy cooking, tending their garden, and trying new restaurants. She also loves staying active with her golden retriever, Lainey, who is training to become a therapy dog.

This is Kaley Wajcman’s first year at ASOP! Kaley holds a Master’s degree in clinical art therapy and is a board certified and registered art therapist and certified supervisor. She loves working with students and young adults of all ages and abilities to feel confident and thrive. Kaley has worked in a variety of clinical and school settings across Kansas and Missouri, and pioneered the Art Therapy role within Children's Mercy where she worked for 6 years.

When she's not at school (T/Th/F), Kaley enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids, being active, doing something crafty or DIY, and working with clients at her private practice in Leawood, Creative Pathways LLC. Kaley also has a passion for working with young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and hosts weekly art groups for individuals with IDD.

Kaley has loved the collaborative environment at ASOP and getting to know the students. Kaley will primarily manage the caseload for our high school students, but will be available to all students as needed on her designated days.
