DIAGNOSTIC TESTING
ASOP administers Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments at the beginning and end of each year. A student’s MAP test results are used as a diagnostic tool to:
determine academic strengths and weaknesses,
prescribe appropriate materials for advancement, and
eliminate unnecessary hours of instruction.
Relaxing after spring KAP testing.
MAP testing is a series of computerized adaptive tests that measure a student’s general knowledge in reading, language usage, and mathematics. It provides teachers with accurate evidence to help inform instructional strategies regardless of how far a student is above or below grade level.
MAP testing is available to be administered at enrollment, at mid-year, and at the end of the school year to measure academic growth.
ASOP also participates in the Kansas Assessment Program (KAP). The State of Kansas requires that students take the state assessments. ASOP administers these to students in designated grades in specific subject areas, in the spring. KAP is designed to support educators and policymakers in evaluating student learning.
Standardized testing (MAP/KAP) is one set of criteria that ASOP uses to drive curriculum and evaluate student performance.
