Placement Testing at the Testing Center

JCCC administers computer-generated tests in reading, writing, and math to determine a student’s current academic skill level for placement in certain courses. All courses do not require a student to take placement tests.

JCCC administers:

  • the Accuplacer test for reading and writing, and

  • the ALEKS test for math.

Testing accommodations can be requested by contacting the Access Department.

A qualifying ACT or SAT score exempts students from needing to take placement tests. The scores needed for exemptions vary. You can contact the Testing Center for more specifics.
